We had our Court of Honor on May 12th.  Everyone's been doing a great job with merit badges and rank advancements!

Victory at Camporee!

On September 22, 2012, the Eagle patrol of Troop 123 took first place at the annual fall district Camporee. The Camporee was held in Emmett, Idaho.  The patrol members took first place in many of the events including the atlatl throw, fire building, best campsite and uniform inspection.  Congatulations to the Troop 123 Eagles!

December 7, 2011 marked the 70th anniversary of the attack on Wake Island and Pearl Harbor. On this day Troop 123 assisted Noah with the dedication of the Wake Island Defenders Memorial at Veterans Memorial Park. The memorial and dedication ceremony were Noah's Eagle Project. In June Noah was awarded his Eagle rank at this Troop 123 Court of Honor.

On September 15, 2012 Troop 123 provided the color guard for another dedication at Veterans Memorial Park. Inspired by Noah's memorial, another group raised funds and got the approval to have an additional flagpole installed at the park, this one now flies a Wake Island Flag. News story link here

Eagle Scout Court of Honor

On June 5, 2012, Gunner's Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held. Troop 123 and many family and friends were in attendance. Gunner's Eagle Scout project was the refurbishing of two Napoleon 12-pounder guns for the Idaho Military History Museum. Gunner earned the Eagle rank on November 22, 2011. Congratulations, Gunner!

Willow Creek Competition

On April 13, 14, and 15 our troop competed in the 23rd annual Willow Creek competition with troops from Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Our Eagles patrol placed 3rd out of 51 patrols. Our troop placed 5th out of 28 troops. We took 1st place in knot tying, 2nd place in the map/land navigation test and 3rd place in flag etiquette. It was a great time and our scouts worked really hard to earn these honors.

Court of Honor

Last week out Troop had a Court of Honor where we received awards and rank advancements.

Camporee

On September 16, our troop competed in a competition with other troops called Camporee. we had a lot of fun and earned awards such as 1st place in camp inspection, the Centennial Camper award, and 3rd place in the competition over all.

Scuba Diving

On one of our weekly meetings, our Troop decided we wanted to go scuba dive!

Blue Lake

On July 30, our Troop went on a backpacking trip to Blue Lake. Most of the boys went on a ten mile hike before hiking a mile down into the lake. We had a lot of fun enjoying the lake and camping there. The hike out was hard but we all managed to survive. We had a great time and hope to go back again some time!

Summer Court of Honor 2011

All of our scouts have been working very hard towards earning merit badges. At our Court of Honor all of our work paid off. Most of our scouts earned badges and/or rank advancements.

Darrick's Eagle Scout Court of Honor

On July 9th, Darrick's Eagle Court of Honor was held at Sacred Heart church. Darrick achieved one of the highest achievements in scouting, the Eagle Scout rank. Congratulations Darrick!

Scout Camp 2011

On June 26, our Troop drove up to Camp Morrison in McCall for a fun week of scout camp. We had a great time and earned a lot of Merit Badges. As a Troop we earned the Woodsman Honor Troop award and the OA Camp Participation award. We all enjoyed our time and can't wait for another camp next year!

Idaho State Veterans Home Boise Tribute Dedication

On June 11, our troop attended a tribute dedication at the Veterans home. They dedicated a new memorial there for all the veterans in the veterans home. It was nice to attend this event as a troop.

CubORee

Memorial Day weekend Troop 123 drove up to McCall for Pack 123's CubORee. Our Troop welcomed four new scouts. These new scouts will learn great skills as a boy scout and if they work hard they will eventually earn their Eagle rank. All together our Troop had a great time and can't wait to go again next year!

Miracle Hotsprings

Last week, Troop 123 drove out to Miracle Hotsprings near Haggerman. We had a great time swimming, cooking, fishing, and sitting around the camp fire. We stayed in a huge yurt-like dome with a large window on the side. While we were there, we retired a few old flags that were in need of retiring. We had alot of fun and enjoyed our time there.

Canoeing

Last week our troop got out the old canoes and hauled them out to Quinn's pond. Having fun and working on the merit badge, our troop had a blast!

Every summer our troop goes to a scout camp, this year we went to Camp Morrison in McCall. Camp Morrison is one of our favorite camps. Despite the mosquitoes we had a great time. At camp there were games and a race that was called the Bull Run. We did really well in the race. All together we got the most points of all the troops, winning the Bull of the Woods award (shown below). Everyone in the troop did a great job earning a lot of merit badges during our week at camp. And working hard for that award.

Bruneau Sand Dunes

On June 18th our troop drove up to Bruneau Sand Dunes. We had a great time besides getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. In the morning we hiked up one of the big dunes. That took us about an hour, it only took us about 20 seconds to run down it from the top. Besides the bugs we had a great time.
