Squirrel TV
On July 28 Troop 123 headed out for Camp Bradley. The troop would be staying there for a week. We worked on merit badges, volunteered to help, and of course had fun. Camp Bradley had invited many troops from all over. There was even a troop from Hawaii, they ended up winning the big prize. The prize was special because the warden had made it with an magnify glass, burning into the wood. Most boys there traveled by bike, our troop walked, it wasn’t that far between destinations. There was work throughout the week, including cleaning latrines, kitchen cleanup, helping adults clean up metal from the roof repairing, and even setting up and taking down camp. As a troop we all had fun at Camp Bradley!
At Camp Bradley in our free time we thought we might have some fun. We got some logs and lashed them together to make a TV basically. One of our Eagle scouts got out some bow string, we tied a branch so it stuck out from a stump. Then we tied a cracker to the end not too far from the ground. Then we get out chairs and wait. And you can watch what we used for entertainment, just look below.

Rummage Sale
On Saturday June 13, Troop 123 had a rummage sale at All Saints Episcopal Church to help fund-raise for the boys to go to a scout camp. They worked very hard and were very successful. It was a fun experience. The boys did things such as helping with selling, helping load things into cars, holding signs on the street, and moving the leftover things away. The sale went very well and people bought what the wanted for cheap. We thank everyone who donated and bought things, we could not have done it without them.

2009 Willow Creek Scout Competition
The weekend of April 17-19 2009 Troop 123 went to a big scout competition called Willow Creek. 552 people including staff and demonstration participants were there. We had fun and enjoyed being up there. It was three days and two nights long. We hiked to different stations and did what we needed to do. The stations included knot tying, flag etiquette, scout knowledge, first aid, fire building, compass course, and more. Every night we went to the bonfire they had. At the bonfire troops did skits, songs, and more. Also there were mountain men, civil war re-enactors, smoke jumpers, bagpipers, and volunteers. All in all Troop 123 had a great time!

Givens Hotsprings
Last weekend we went to Givens Hot Springs. We camped outside and the new scouts worked toward their Tenderfoot badge. We survived a hail/lightning storms and went swimming in the hot springs pool, (which was like swimming in a giant hot tub). Everyone had a great time and can’t wait to go to another campout!
